Artificial intelligence is rapidly entering family doctors’ offices, helping with note-writing, decision-making, and patient communication. While these tools promise to ease workload pressures, they may also unintentionally change how patients feel heard, understood, and cared for. Umair’s project will bring together patients, families, and primary care teams to co-design a “Compassion Playbook” that guides clinics in using AI to strengthen trust, protect emotional safety, and keep human connection at the heart of care.
