Abbas Zavar

Abbas Zavar is a physician and digital health scientist dedicated to advancing Personalized Medicine (PM) and the compassionate integration of AI into healthcare. His work bridges clinical expertise, research innovation, and education, guided by a commitment to improving patient-centered care. Abbas leads research initiatives in Personalized Medicine, currently spearheading the design of a Personalized Preventive Plan for the Canadian healthcare system. He directs a multidisciplinary team of over 50 researchers to identify validated preventive assessment tools and develop a comprehensive knowledge base mapping risk factors to diseases, enabling AI-driven personalized preventive care.

As a subject matter expert, Abbas supports AI adoption in healthcare through initiatives at OntarioMD, including scaling AI scribe solutions province-wide and co-developing an Innovation Lab to evaluate AI-enabled tools. He also enhances clinician education via the OMD Practice Hub, fostering the responsible and effective integration of AI into clinical practice.

Abbas teaches clinical data sciences, Personalized Medicine, and AI in healthcare at multiple Canadian institutions, including the University of Toronto, Toronto Metropolitan University, and George Brown College, shaping the next generation of digital health professionals.
