Our Partners

Providing exceptional outcomes through collaboration.

We've long recognized the importance of partnering with educational and research facilities, as well as organizations that offer healthcare services. The critical funding we provide to these organizations leads to real change in the healthcare system.

By partnering with world-class organizations, we bring more compassion to healthcare.

Canadian Society for the History of Medicine (CSHM)

We have a long-standing record of providing funding to students through CSHM, and are proud of our history as Canada’s primary funder of studies in the history of medicine.

AMS currently has a five-year agreement with CSHM to provide several offers, including studentships for four students, an AMS Congress Grants to facilitate students attending the CSHM annual meeting, and sponsorship of the AMS Paterson Lecture. We also make funding available to CSHM for the Canadian Bulletin of Medical History, as well as for general outreach, communication and engagement.

Canadian Association for Health Humanities (CAHH)

AMS is proud to be the founding sponsor for CAHH. You’ll see evidence of our partnership in announcements, on the CAHH website, and at conferences, etc.

We deeply value the work done by CAHH and believe in its mandate to promote the exchange of ideas and critical dialogue among scholars and practitioners. Like us, they see the advantages of fostering national and international collaboration through meetings, publications, and other activities. They do invaluable work in facilitating interdisciplinary and cross-professional inquiries into research and educational practices that are relevant to the health humanities.

McGill-Queen’s University Press

It’s our pleasure to sponsor the publication of three books per year for five years (2018-2022) via McGill-Queen’s University Press. This series, titled, “McGill-Queen’s/AMS Studies in the History of Medicine, Health, and Society”, will cover the social history of medicine and health care. Priority is given to works that improve our understanding of the history of medicine and healthcare in Canada.

McGill-Queen’s University Press has long been a preferred publisher in this sector, and we’re proud to enable a deeper focus on the Canadian healthcare sector through this partnership.
