Cynthia Whitehead

Board Member

Cynthia Whitehead is deeply committed to improving medical education and global health through scholarship, leadership, and clinical service. She is a Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto and Director and Scientist at the Wilson Centre for Education Research at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine and University Health Network.

An active family physician and teacher in both Toronto and Yellowknife, Cynthia’s work spans research, curriculum development, educational leadership, and global partnerships. Her scholarly interests include family medicine education, globalized medical education, the history of health professions education, accreditation systems, and education for collaboration.

Cynthia has held numerous leadership roles in medical education and worked with educators and institutions across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Her global outlook and academic leadership are a valuable asset to the AMS Board as we strive to enhance compassionate care through innovation and education.
