Conversations with Clio: Muses & Musings on History in HPER (Health Professions Education Research)
On November 12th 2025, AMS Healthcare and the Wilson Centre hosted an event at the Royal Ontario Museum - Conversations with Clio: Muses and Musings on HPER, a panel discussion on Health Professions Education Research. The panel explored the evolving landscape of HPER, the role of historical inquiry in shaping educational innovation, and the possibilities—and responsibilities—that come with reimagining how we train future health professionals.
The event featured esteemed panelists:
- Jacalyn Duffin, MD, PhD Canadian Medical Historian and Hematologist
- Rachel Ellaway, PhD Professor, Department of Community Health Sciences, University of Calgary
- Brian Hodges, MD, PhD, FRCPC Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, University Health Network and Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto.
The panel was moderated by AMS Board Member Cynthia Whitehead and AMS Fellow in Residence for Healthcare History and Interdisciplinary Exchange, Lucy Vorobej.
