- Artificial Intelligence
- Notification
The goal of this research is to ensure that, as AI moves into clinical use in Ontario, the principles of ethical and compassionate clinical care are upheld. Study findings will provide the foundation for future validation of an AI enabled digital application for consent and to expand the framework to apply at a national level. James’s project aim to promote trust and transparency so that AI’s potential as a key facilitator of compassionate care is maximized.
The work includes three research objectives:
- To characterize the current literature and environment with respect to framework, guidance, and policy regarding the state of notification and consent for clinical AI.
- To engage relevant interest-holders in the development of a framework for notification and consent for clinical AI use.
- To co-design an AI enabled digital solution to facilitate notification and consent that has the potential to be scaled provincially, and ultimately, nationally.
