Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly used in pediatric healthcare, but it can also create uncertainty, fear, and questions for children and families. Using interviews that include short, realistic stories based on real-world applications of AI in healthcare, this study explores how children and caregivers understand and experience AI, and what information they need to feel informed and supported. By listening to diverse patient and caregiver perspectives, Catherine’s project will guide the co-development of compassionate, family-centred education resources, along with practical guidance for multidisciplinary clinicians. Together, these resources aim to ensure AI strengthens trust, communication, and human connection in pediatric care.
