Hannah Chair in the History of Medicine at the University of Ottawa

In October of 2015 Dr. Susan Lamb was appointed to the University of Ottawa’s Hannah Chair and Program in History of Medicine. Dr. Lamb joins the new DIME and its Medicine & Humanities unit to develop a bilingual program on the history of medicine for inclusion in the UGME curriculum, and contribute her expertise to the enrichment of humanities-based learning for all student in the health sciences at the University of Ottawa.

In addition to peer-reviewed articles in both history and medical journals, Dr. Lamb has recently published her first scholarly book, Pathologist of the Mind: Adolf Myer and the Origins of American Psychiatry (Johns Hopkins Press, 2014). She received her  PhD in History of Medicine from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 2010 and holds a Masters in History (University of Toronto) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (York University). A proud Canadian, she has taught at Johns Hopkins University, McGill university, and Queens University.
