AMS celebrated its 80th Anniversary in May 2017 and will marked the occasion by hosting an Invitational Symposium in association with the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS) titled Canadian Medicare 2017: Historical Reflections, Future Directions. International experts and global thought leaders came together to learn lessons from history on how to solve present and future challenges in Canadian Medicare. Read their abstracts now.
The symposium was co-chaired by Drs. Colleen M. Flood and Greg Marchildon. Colleen is the Director of the Centre for Health Law, Policy and Ethics and a Professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa; Greg is the Ontario Research Chair in Health Policy and System Design, and a Professor at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto. The full day event included panel presentations, commentaries and dedicated times for facilitated discussions. Symposium proceedings will be published in the Journal of Health Economics, Policy and Law.
A public keynote address by Dr. Sally Sheard of the University of Liverpool and Greg Marchildon, facilitated by David Naylor, was held at the MaRS Discovery District on May 11th, 2017.
